Hey everyone, welcome to this week’s FBL.
This is Matt.
And today, I want to talk about a paradox.
A lot of times, I talk about how healing is a paradoxical journey. Really, any kind of growth is.
The paradox I want to talk about today is this:
The greatest way we can impact and help heal the world is by focusing on our own healing and our own state of consciousness.
At first, that may sound like the opposite of what we should do.
Many of us want to make an impact on the world.
We want to believe that our time on this earth mattered and that we left the world better than we found it.
People pursue noble causes and meaningful missions, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.
But what we often fail to understand is that our impact on the world is not necessarily about what we do.
It’s about who we are while we do it.
And who we are isn’t what we say we believe or what we think about ourselves.
It’s the emotional, mental, and spiritual presence that we bring into everything we do.
Whether it’s a relationship, parenting, our work, or any other aspect of life, we bring our state of consciousness into it.
One thing I hear from people all the time is that there’s always something outside of themselves that is preventing them from doing this work.
Even when they know they need it.
They know fear is running the show.
They know fear is influencing their decisions.
They know it’s operating quietly in the background.
Yet there’s always some external reason why now isn’t the right time.
“I’m too busy.”
“It’s not a good time.”
“I’ll do it later.”
I hear that almost every week.
And I understand that perspective.
I truly honor the fact that everyone has to come to this work when they feel aligned with it and ready to commit to it.
But one thing I want to emphasize today is that there is nothing more important than this work.
Because this work changes everything else.
It allows you to transcend the things you unconsciously bring into every area of your life.
Carl Jung famously said:
“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”
We discussed that quote in group this week.
And it’s powerful because it points directly to the issue.
Until fear becomes conscious and confronted...
Until guilt, shame, anger, pride, desire, and these lower emotional states become conscious...
They will continue running in the background like an operating system.
And we’ll call it fate.
We’ll say, “That’s just how life is.”
Or, “That’s just how I am.”
Or, “I’m cursed.”
But the truth is, these patterns are simply operating beneath our awareness.
The work of confronting them is scary.
But it’s also beautiful.
It’s transformative.
And it’s some of the most important work you can ever do.
If you want to make the greatest impact possible in the world, start by working on yourself.
Because when you move into higher states of consciousness, that change radiates into every conversation, every relationship, and every interaction you have.
And from those states, your perspective on how to serve the world changes completely.
You no longer act from an egoic need to matter.
You act because your actions are aligned with who you truly are.
They become a natural expression of your purpose.
But to get there, you first have to become aligned with your higher self.
And that requires doing the work that most people avoid.
If you’re at a place where you feel called to that work—where you’re ready for fear, guilt, anger, and these hidden forces to stop secretly running your life—I’d encourage you to fill out an application.
Because this work isn’t meant to be done alone.
You need guidance.
We all do.
Everyone does.
And it truly is some of the most rewarding work you can ever do.
So if this resonates with you, feel free to apply.
And if you found this message helpful, please share it with someone.
With that, wishing you all a great day and a great week.
Talk soon.
