Matt's Message of the Week

Choosing the Hard Path

One of the simplest ways to understand this journey is this:

There is no easy path.

Living in the loop is hard.
Recovery is also hard.

And once you really accept that, the question becomes:

Which hard path are you going to choose?

The loop offers short-term relief.

You can ruminate, avoid, seek reassurance, or do compulsions — and it makes today feel a little easier.

But the cost shows up later.

More thoughts.
More intensity.
More time stuck in the loop.

That’s the hard part of that path.

With recovery, it’s the opposite.

Today is harder.

You have to face discomfort.
You have to do the work.

But over time, things begin to shift.

The loop loses its grip.
Fear starts to settle.
Life becomes easier.

So the choice you have each day is simple:

Short-term ease with long-term struggle…
or short-term discomfort with long-term freedom.
