This Week in The Feel Better Letter 👇
✅ Scrupulosity isn’t about faith — it’s about fear disguising itself as faith.
✅ Fear only survives when you feed it… and it gives nothing back in return.
✅ The “fruit” of an experience reveals its source — and scrupulosity never produces peace, love, or connection.
✅ New episodes: The Decision That Ended My OCD & Anxiety (Not What You Think) and Why Scrupulosity Isn’t About Faith (And Why Treating It That Way Keeps You Stuck)
✅ Live workshop: Live Scrupulosity Workshop Next Week — details below.
Matt's Message of the Week
Something I Never Understood About Scrupulosity
Scrupulosity isn’t a faith problem.
While stuck in the loop, I was constantly tormented by thoughts like:
What if I sinned? What if I got possessed? Am I doing something wrong by not praying? Did I lose focus while reading Scripture? Did I pray the “right” way?
Anyone who’s been in this cycle knows how endless it becomes.
Looking back, I noticed something painful but true:
I wasn’t losing years to fear — I was giving years to fear.
Fear only survives if you feed it, and scrupulosity consumes everything while giving nothing in return.
What finally shifted things was recognizing that the fruit of scrupulosity — panic, dread, guilt, exhaustion, torment — looked nothing like the fruit associated with connection to God (love, peace, joy, stillness).
If the experience produces fear, chaos, and suffering, it’s not coming from God.
It’s coming from fear.
Scrupulosity isn’t a faith problem.
It’s a fear problem.
You project fear onto God and then look at God through the lens of fear — and everything becomes distorted.
Recovery begins when you stop feeding the fear, stop projecting it outward, and finally turn toward what’s happening inside you.

This Week’s Reminder
You don’t break the scrupulosity loop by arguing with fear.
You break it by refusing to feed it — and reconnecting with what’s actually true.
To your freedom and success,
Matt
