How to Overcome Workplace Anxiety and Stress
In this episode, I am going to talk about stress and anxiety in the workplace. In order to overcome stress and anxiety in the workplace, it is SO important to accurately identify the specific stressor within work, as opposed to assuming that work itself is the problem. Sometimes simple shifts make huge differences in a person’s psychological and emotional well being. So in this episode, I will be discussing THREE areas to consider if you are feeling a lot of stress and anxiety related to your work.
Number 1 - Your Work Environment or Team
Number 2 - Your Individual Responsibilities
Number 3 - Your Personal Growth
Exploring these three areas will help you develop better self-awareness of your current situation, and ultimately take better corrective actions in your life. So if you are struggling with stress and anxiety...
How to Handle Unemployment Anxiety
In this episode, I discuss Anxiety and Unemployment. The economic impact of COVID-19 has resulted in a large number of people losing their jobs. Now life during a global pandemic is stressful enough, but when you add more layers of problems (like financial uncertainty) into the mix, it’s no wonder we are seeing a dramatic spike in mental health issues across the board. Now I speak from experience when I say that losing a job can seem like the end of the world, especially when it happens unexpectedly.
But it is critical to maintain perspective and realize that this moment is simply the end of that chapter of your life and is by no means the end of your story. So in this episode, I will be sharing my experiences with job loss and bouncing back from it. I’ll also share some additional tips to help you through this transitional...
The Importance of Being Authentic
In this episode, I discuss the importance of authenticity and how it plays a large role in our recovery. From a very early age our emotional needs revolve around two things - the ability to attach to our caregivers and the ability to be authentic. However, if we learn that being authentic threatens our attachment we will almost always choose attachment over authenticity. This can lead to us suppressing different aspects of ourselves, which in turn can manifest into a variety of physical, mental, and emotional problems. In this episode, I discuss how being authentic can help set us free from our inner struggles and live a more fulfilling life. Enjoy!
All right. Hey my friends and welcome to another episode of the restored mind show. My name is Matt Codde and thank you so much for tuning in. And, um, today's episode is going to be...
The Importance of Telling The Truth
In this episode, I discuss the importance of honesty and why it is crucial for true recovery. Right now, we are living in a very clear imbalance of integrity on many different levels. On a societal level, we are presented with misinformation and even disinformation from news outlets and politicians on both sides of the spectrum. And on an individual level, many of us struggle with keeping simple promises to ourselves, not to mention our friends and family. It’s no wonder many of us are experiencing such an extreme level of internal discord during this pandemic. Which is exactly why I wanted to start a new series on telling the truth. The truth is important because it enables us to see the world how it really is, which in turn allows us to focus and solve the real problems we are facing. In this episode, I introduce some initial ideas on why...
Distractions & Increased Mental Illness
In this episode, I discuss several major mental health issues that are growing during this global pandemic. According to initial research, there is an alarming increase in the number of domestic violence, suicide, drug overdose, and child abuse cases during this pandemic. Now, I know it’s easy to quickly put the blame on macro forces beyond our control such as COVID-19 and the mandatory quarantine. And I agree that there is no doubt these forces play a large role in this increase, but I also want us to explore these issues from a micro perspective as well.
So in this episode, I talk about how many of us use distractions to manage our mental and emotional struggles, and how many of our distractions have been taken from us seemingly overnight. As a result, a lot of stuff of mental and emotional issues are surfacing for...
In this episode, I discuss the two different types of worry with intrusive thoughts. The first type of worry is worrying about events or situations that could happen. A few examples of this could be worrying about getting sick, losing a job, or some other negative event taking place. The second type of worry is worrying about the presence of thoughts in your conscious awareness. An example of this is when a person worries that they may experience a specific intrusive thought so they spend a great deal of time trying to make sure they don't experience certain intrusive thoughts.
