OCD & Anxiety Treatment: Recovery is Possible

https://www.restoredminds.com/5-Rules-For-Recovery

In this episode, I discuss the idea of recovery and why believing in recovery is so important. Your beliefs can help or hinder your recovery process. When a person is struggling with anxiety operates from the idea that recovery is possible, it can change her/his whole perspective and the path in his/her recovery process. In this episode, I discuss the idea of recovery and the beliefs that a person struggling with anxiety should adapt to achieve success.

OCD & Anxiety Treatment: The Lens of Anxiety

OCD & Anxiety Treatment: The Lens of Anxiety

https://www.restoredminds.com/5-Rules-For-Recovery

In this episode, I discuss the idea of the “lens of anxiety”. When someone is struggling with anxiety, there is a thin line between the real world and the world they are seeing skewed by anxiety. It’s like you see the world through a set of anxiety goggles or sunglasses. In this episode, I discuss the lens of anxiety and how important it is to develop awareness when you’re in the lens and to understand that you’re not seeing things how they really are.

OCD & Anxiety Treatment: How We Justify Living With Anxiety

OCD & Anxiety Treatment: How We Justify Living With Anxiety

https://www.restoredminds.com/5-Rules-For-Recovery

In this episode, I discuss how we often justify living with anxiety. To put simply, when our anxious minds come up with a potential threat and then we engage in a specific behavior in an attempt to neutralize the threat. We form a false connection. If the perceived threat doesn’t happen, we believe that our safety behavior prevented the event from happening. For example, if I wear my lucky shoes then my plane won’t crash. So we start to make the justification for continuing these safety behaviors and continuing living with anxiety. In this episode, I discuss the problem of justifying anxiety and why breaking these connections is crucial for your recovery.

OCD & Anxiety Treatment: The Real Problem with Anxiety

OCD & Anxiety Treatment: The Real Problem with Anxiety

https://www.restoredminds.com/5-Rules-For-Recovery

In this episode, I discuss the real problem of living with anxiety and how anxiety is different from fear. A person who is struggling with anxiety will never see anxiety as the real problem because their focus is always drawn to the potential threat their mind has generated. As the anxiety grows, which inevitably happens, her/his life will tend to become smaller and smaller. In this episode, I discuss how important it is to first see the real problem with anxiety before getting help with it.

TRANSCRIPT

(00:04):
