In this episode, I discuss several major mental health issues that are growing during this global pandemic. According to initial research, there is an alarming increase in the number of domestic violence, suicide, drug overdose, and child abuse cases during this pandemic. Now, I know it’s easy to quickly put the blame on macro forces beyond our control such as COVID-19 and the mandatory quarantine. And I agree that there is no doubt these forces play a large role in this increase, but I also want us to explore these issues from a micro perspective as well.

Anxiety & Leaps of Faith
In this episode, I talk about taking leaps of faith. Taking a leap of faith essentially means to act on something without being certain of the outcome. For example, when you ask someone on a date, you can’t be certain if they are going to say “Yes” until after you ask. Taking action is actually what produces a certain outcome. When it comes to anxiety recovery most of us strive to be certain before we take action. The problem is there is no way to be certain without taking action so we remain stuck. It’s a complete paradox! Taking leaps of faith is your path to achieve a life that is not controlled by fear and anxiety.

Letting Go of Control During Crisis
As we continue this series on managing ourselves well during this pandemic. I want to discuss the concept of letting go of control. The overwhelming majority of life is beyond our control. And our inability to be certain about the future can lead to anxiety, which in turn, can lead us to attempting to control things to mitigate potential threats. The problem is that when we spend today trying to control tomorrow we miss out on what today has to offer. And if we miss out on today again and again, eventually we can miss out our entire life. In this episode, I discuss how letting go of control can help us have more internal peace and actually make better choices for our future.

In this episode, I discuss the idea of resistance, which is simply the unwillingness to accept or comply with what is currently happening. During this series, we've been talking about how we can best manage ourselves during this time of crisis. And the reality is that much of the pain and turmoil we experience comes from our resistance to the present moment. Resistance can add more layers of the problem and we are basically creating a domino effect on our community and to the rest of the world. Coronavirus & Anxiety
In this episode, I discuss the CoronaVirus Anxiety. COVID-19 is a new strain that was discovered in 2019, it is a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases. In the height of this coronavirus epidemic, we are also in a panic epidemic. Most of us (if not all) are currently experiencing some level of anxiety regarding this CoronaVirus or at least the secondary impact of the virus. Yet, one of the biggest threats that most of us are oblivious to is the increasing level of panic. To counteract this panic situation, we have to start becoming aware when we’re panicking. Anxiety and panic grow by engaging in behaviors that are reinforcing the anxiety.
Please remember that peace starts with your internal environment, not from your external environment. To counteract panic culture we must start with ourselves.
